What is a SIG? 👩🏫
In the context of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and CHI (Computer-Human Interaction), a Special Interest Group (SIG) refers to a community or subgroup within the organization that focuses on a specific area of interest or topic related to computing and human-computer interaction.
SIGs serve as platforms for researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and advance the understanding and application of their respective areas of interest. They provide opportunities for networking, sharing research findings, organizing events, publishing specialized content, and promoting discussions within their specific domains.
SIGs within ACM and CHI create communities of like-minded individuals who share a passion for a particular area of research or practice. They contribute to the advancement of knowledge, foster collaboration, and provide valuable resources and support to their members.
